About Me

About Me

Leery about baking new desserts because you’re always liable if they suck? I can help with that. Hi, I’m Heather, your kitchen crash test dummy. I’m the first to admit I’ve made plenty of recipes that aren’t blog worthy. Or even edible for that matter. The latest was a dried out Persian love cake that got no love from anyone who tasted it. Not to mention the damn thing cost me about ten bucks in pistachios. Plus a Sponge Bob Band-Aid for the thumb I sliced shelling said pistachios and $35 for the manicure I ruined.

The polar opposite of classically trained, my baking experience is basically a mixture of trial and error. Mostly error, I admit, but despite doing stupid shit like burning caramel so badly that the smoking pan couldn’t be salvaged, I solemnly swear to only post recipes you’d want to make a second time. (I would’ve said a third, but I’m not pushing my luck.)

Since I’ve been old enough to hold a spoon, I have been addicted to making sweets. As proof, I present Exhibit A, a pig-tailed pic of me mixing up a bowl of brownies at the wee age of two. Since then I’ve eaten my body weight in raw batter. On an annual basis. I’m not kidding; when the grim reaper comes for me he’ll be masquerading as salmonella. It’s okay though, if brownie batter kills me my tombstone has already been pre-carved to say every chocolaty bite was worth it.

If Willy Wonka’s your soulmate and you’re seeking sugary inspiration with a side of eye rolling, we’ll be fast friends. You’re the reason I launched this blog. Be sure to take credit for that, but know I secretly blame you for all the extra calories I’m eating on this endeavor. If I keep it up, I’ll weigh more than my refrigerator.

Don’t let that happen! Follow @whiskingwolf on Instagram (instagram.com/whiskingwolf/) and leave a comment with a low calorie dessert you’d like to see featured on the blog. Add a few exercise tips to boot, I’m going to need them.
